Sorry, friends!

A complete English version of this page is not available yet. But in the meantime we want to give you the most important details anyway.

This is the website of

VCP Seelze-Lohnde.

We are a German scouting team from Lohnde, which belongs to Seelze near Hannover. The group has been founded in 1982. Being part of the lutherian "Verband Christlicher Pfadfinderinnen und Pfadfinder" (Union of Christian Girl Guides and Boy Scouts), we are standing in the traditions of the scout movement as founded a hundred years ago by Lord Robert S. Baden-Powell.

Scout's promise and law are important for us, as is our common christian faith.

Our group "Stamm Mechthild von Lona" is named after an assumedly very generous and caritative noblewoman of this town who was buried around 1230. Unfortunately, apart from her being so generous and being part of the local establishment, according to her ancient tombstone, we know next to nothing about her. Most probably she was married to a Bernhard of Lona and was a relative of a bishop, possibly she was involved in matters of the church, assumedly she spent lots of money on charity.
Lots of futile attempts have been made to secure more facts, but even the church archives do not yield much information.

Our group is currently a tribe of five coeducative patrols, assembling about 120 members from 6 to 90 years (although only about 80 of them regularly participate in scouting activities). The patrols are traditionally named after animals, preferable those from endangered species. Currently they are called "Junge Waschbären" (young racoons), "Junge Tiger" (young tigers), "Pandas", "Fledermäuse" (bats) and a scouting team with the very eloquent name of "See/Pies", which is not understandable at all without knowing this team is the result of a fusion of the groups "Seesterne" (starfish) and "Pinguine" (penguins). Both of the latter in the meantime joined the ranks of scouting leaders, educating young children using the scouting methods.

Our meeting place currently does not exist. The structure of the Youth Pavillon Lohnde that housed our work since 1982 was dilapidated to the point of unusability. So we decided to build a new home for scouting in its place, demolishing the old one. Our group uses rooms of the local church for now, tensely awaiting the building of our new domicile. The vision is to build a house where scouting teams can freely meet, with a kitchen and sanitary facilities, and where our tents, material and history (chronics, flags, trophies...) can be safely stored. We started Fundraising in the middle of 2006, and now we theoretically could start building - if the wheather was better... If you want to donate , thus giving a future to scouting in our town, feel free. You find the account data on our website ("Projekt 2010").

Our contacts do not only extend over local and national networks. Groups participating in Jamborees all over the world and traveling abroad laid the groundwork for international partnerships.
We established contacts to the Israel Scouting Association and maintain an especially intensive cooperation with the ZHP (Zwiazek Harcerstwa Polskiego) scout group from Mosina, Poland, featuring common camps and tours, visits of scouts or leaders and much more.
